Global Passion (GP) is the missions department at The Sanctuary. Each year we pray and seek God's unique vision and where He would like us to focus our missions efforts. This year, our theme is "Just Around the Corner." In Acts 1:8 Jesus says "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." When we hear the word "missions" our thoughts immediately travel to this scripture and focus on the "ends of the earth." At The Sanctuary, we believe in spreading the Gospel of Christ to everyone, everywhere. Our goal for GP2010 is to extend what we have been actively engaging across the world, to include those areas "Just Around the Corner." In the verse above, Jesus calls his disciples to begin in Jerusalem. He calls them to the areas closest to their homes, families and friends, possibly those areas that have been overlooked. As followers of Christ, we are given this same command. We must look around our community and in our nation for opportunities to help share the love of Christ. Through local outreaches like ROCC Community Lunches and Street Teams to nation-wide trips to help with inner-city homelessness or orphanages, we at The Sanctuary desire to be the tools Christ can use to accomplish His work. So where will you start in 2010, where is your Jerusalem? Chances are, it is "Just Around the Corner" |
